About the Gallery
Sho+1 was established in 2017 as the successor to Galerie Sho Contemporary Art. The gallery presents works by both Japanese and international artists distinguished by a strong sense of individuality, curated through a unique perspective. It places particular emphasis on exhibitions centered on Pop Art and Pop Culture.
Sho+1 believes that agallery should be a space guided not by trends, but by the galleristʼs enduring anddiscerning aesthetic vision. Sho+1ʼs program is not limited to Pop Art; it encompasses abroad range of practices, including works that engage conceptual concerns as well asthose that are radical or erotic in nature. A defining curatorial approach is the presentation of primary artists alongside internationally established artists carefully selected through an independent viewpoint ー within the same space, a methodology that continues the core concept of its predecessor. Sho+1 strives to create an environment in which visitors can encounter these distinctive juxtapositions and perspectives, fostering new discoveries and expanded ways of seeing.
Building on over four decades of experience in gallery management and an extensive network, Sho+1 will continue to develop our program with a focus on internationally active artists from abroad, while further advancing collaboration with worldwide gallerists to a higher level.
