Art Colloboration Kyoto 2026
November 7 – 9, 2026
ICC Kyoto

As part of ACK’s Gallery Collaborations section, Sho+1 will present a shared booth with New York–based guest gallery Olney Gleason. Olney Gleason will feature works by Sara Anstis and vanessa german, and Sho+1 will feature works by Sato Brian Katsuhiko. The exhibition centers on three concepts: the body as figure, friction and disjunction, and connections across multiple realms. While differing in scale, medium, and cultural background, all three artists engage the body as a central motif, connecting it to invisible territories of mythology, spirituality, emotion, and memory.
Anstis reinterprets the visual languages of mythology, folklore, and art history to create allegorical worlds charged with intimacy and psychological tension. german creates figurative sculptures known as “power figures” from minerals, beads, found objects, and other materials, giving physical form to the forces of love, healing, and community. Sato brings women, animals, and spiritual beings together through a pop-inflected, surreal visual language, constructing allegorical worlds where reality and fantasy intersect.
Rather than synthesizing these distinct practices into a unified framework, the exhibition deliberately allows their differences, disjunctions, and frictions to remain visible within a shared space. Through the tensions and resonances generated by their juxtaposition, the body becomes a conduit—a point of passage from the inner realm of the individual toward broader territories where reality and fiction, nature, community, and memory intersect.

We would be honored by your participation in this occasion.

About Olney Gleason

Olney Gleason was founded by Nicholas Olney and Eric Gleason in 2025. Across two locations in Chelsea, New York, the gallery presents exhibitions that bring international contemporary artists into dialogue with practices that have shaped the last century of art history. Spanning generations and media, the program is grounded in the gallery’s commitment to long-term artist representation and highly-researched exhibitions.
Anchored by a 3,000-square-foot main gallery illuminated by 28 skylights, the building also features a rooftop sculpture garden. In addition to its headquarters at 509 West 27th Street, Olney Gleason maintains a second space at 297 Tenth Avenue, enabling the presentation of concurrent exhibitions that support a broad range of artistic practices.
The gallery also produces presentations at select international art fairs and in public contexts worldwide.
