Sho+1 is pleased to announce a group exhibition, titled “fairy tale in a dream” by Clara Desire, Dongi Lee, Katsuhiko Brian Sato, and fusengirl® from May 21st – June 25th, 2024. The Exhibition consists of new works on paper by four gallery artists.
Clara Desire is an artist who follows tides of graffiti art. Her new body of work reflects stories to confirm her whereabouts by the expression of revelatory characters and words to be appeared in her dreams repeatedly.
Dongi Lee poses a problem against society with flexible methods by using his own imaginary character, “Atomaus”. His works always include complex elements that make up society. He captures the ever-changing aspects of the times and expresses them with pop taste in an exquisite balance.
Katsuhiko Brian Sato is good at creating fantasy that becomes the subject of main characters of a fairy tale and of adorable comic characters. In this exhibition Sato mainly releases scared and kawaii type of new works that feature various characters to be appeared at a variety of fairy tales.
fusengirl® is an artist who draws one and only imaginary individual on 7.5 x 7.5 cm sticky notes in a dairy basis. Her producing portrait sketch must be someone who belongs to somewhere. After 2023 she has launched new experiment to work on canvas, record jackets and wrapping paper beyond her usual format of sticky notes. In new works on wrapping paper attempt one can see her background of a traditional Japanese style painting method.
Each artist manages to create his or her work by combining fictitious and realistic elements in connection with collective unconsciousness and memory of various events that one has experienced. We are thrilled to present a dynamic line of works by these four gallery artists to go back and forth freely between the world of high and low fantasy.
